Welcomes you to the Thirty-Fifth Diocesan Synod

St. Barnabas Anglican Mission of Belchertown, Massachusetts is serving as host for the Thirty-fifth diocesan synod. Though not yet two years old, the mission has brought together many faithful Christians who celebrate Anglican services each Saturday afternoon.

We have chosen Westfield, Massachusetts as the setting for our synod. Westfield is central to the diocese and easily accessible from I-90, the Massachusetts Turnpike. We have planned a schedule of events that will, we hope, be pleasing to everybody.

We have made arrangements with St. Joseph’s Church (PNCC), 73 Main Street, Westfield, Massachusetts for the use of their church building and parish hall for all services and meetings. We are very grateful to Bishop Paul Sobiechowski and Father Pawel Lukaszewicz for their gracious offer to use their facility.

SERVICES

Morning Prayer and Evensong will be celebrated daily at St. Joseph’s Church. Check the schedule for times. All services will be held at St. Joseph’s Church.

Synod Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 8.

MEETINGS

All meetings will be held at the St. Joseph’s Parish hall, a modern building on the church property. The large meeting room will be the setting for the Synod Business Meeting. A smaller room will be made available for the Standing Committee meeting

ACCOMMODATIONS:

A block of rooms has been reserved for October 7 and 8 at The Hampton Inn, 39 Southampton Road, Westfield, Massachusetts. 413-564-6900. The group rate for the synod is $115.00 per night. We have not made provisions for Friday night, as our experience is that most, if not all, delegates and guests will be heading home after the synod business meeting and/or Friday Evensong concludes. Amenities include: daily hot breakfast, high speed and wireless internet, indoor pool and fitness center. The hotel is also “pet friendly.”

NOTE: The Quality Inn,2 Southampton Road, Westfield, 413-568-2821, located across rte. 202 from the Hampton Inn may be available for any overflow. However, we strongly advise making your reservations early.

RESERVATIONS: When making reservations, please mention that you are with the “ACC” group. That will ensure that you receive the group rate. If you are making an online reservation, please insert ACC in the “special rates” box.

REFRESHMENTS AND MEALS:

Wednesday evening dinner. Clericus only. Location TBD.

Thursday lunch. Clericus only. The Tavern. 2 Broad Street, Westfield

Thursday, October 8. Synod Reception and Banquet. Tekoa Country Club, 459 Russell Street, Westfield.

Friday lunch, October 9. A catered lunch, served by members of St. Barnabas, will be offered at noon on Friday at the parish hall.
